This Higher National Certificate is a qualification that has been developed to prepare people for employment in Social Care. Graduate may take up employment OR move on to the second year programme- Higher National Diploma in Health and Social Care.OR Students who obtain an overall merit grade will gain a place on the majority of courses outlined in  Edexcel Degree Course Finder or universities below:

Entry Requirements

    To be eligible to apply for a place on this programme, applicants must:

      1. Hold a Level 5 or a FETAC award at NFQ Level 6 or equivalent
      2. Leaving Certificate Award-5 Passes
      3. Completion of a recognised Access Programme (or equivalent).
      4. For those EU students who have not completed their education through the medium of English, IELTS of 5.5 score band or TOEFL equivalency, or Pearson Test of English General (PTE General)
      5. Mature students, those at the age of 23 or higher on January 1st of the year of the course of entry
      6. Managers with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be considered, subject to interview and being able to demonstrate their ability to cope with the demands of the programme.

      • The Job readiness component in this programme are: The Personal and Professional Development unit gives learners an opportunity to get constant tutorials on CV preparation, job-seeking and interview skills and complete a mandatory 200 hours work placement.
      • Flexible training method will be used (blended learning) all training will be recorded and posted up on Moodle for students to access to re-enforce learning and also for students to access should they miss a class or become employed, this will ensure completion of the programme.
      • An opportunity to learn other Languages like French, German and Spanish up to Advance level. This will open more opportunities for participants.
      • Industry specific guest speakers from different companies will participate in the delivery of the programme. This will present an opportunity for students to network with industry professionals.
