The Higher National Certificate in Computing and Systems Development consists of a Major Award and 2 industry certification designed by two powerful giants in the digital industry- Adobe and Microsoft.

Microsoft is one of the leading software companies in the world and is one of the companies taking the lead in the computing arena while Adobe is the global leader in digital marketing and digital media solutions. With applications that create ground-breaking digital content that deploys across media and devices in other to enable businesses achieve greater success.

Participants will not only earn a Level 6 Major Award but they will also become a Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) and Adobe Certified Associate. Participants will have the opportunity to gain a strong foundation in Web Application, Object Oriented and Graphic Design. The programme is designed to provide the learner with the skills, knowledge, and proficiencies required to begin a career in Information Technology industry.

The programme will prepare candidates for many roles in the IT sector including: Network Engineer, Network Administrator, Security Administrator, IT Project Manager, Technical Support, Web Design, Junior Software Tester, Junior Software Administrator

Entry Requirements

    To be eligible to apply for a place on this programme, applicants must:

      1. Hold a Level 5 or a FETAC award at NFQ Level 6 or equivalent
      2. Leaving Certificate Award-5 Passes
      3. Completion of a recognised Access Programme (or equivalent).
      4. For those EU students who have not completed their education through the medium of English, IELTS of 5.5 score band or TOEFL equivalency, or Pearson Test of English General (PTE General)
      5. Mature students, those at the age of 23 or higher on January 1st of the year of the course of entry
      6. Managers with considerable experience but no formal qualifications may be considered, subject to interview and being able to demonstrate their ability to cope with the demands of the programme.
